An ability is an effect a card that is in the player's Play area that can be triggered by paying a certain cost or performing a specific action.

For example, to activate the ability of "Add a Wellness Token to another Character you control" on Yoga Instructor // Mommy 'n Me, you would pay 3 cookies

A grab of a toy is considered an ability.

A normal ability can only be triggered by a player's who's turn it is during their Build Phase
