Deck

Your deck (or draw pile) is your cards not currently in play, not in your hand and not in Timeout. Your deck is played face down on your play surface. Generally, cards are moved from the top of your deck to your hand as part of either the resource phase of your turn or as a fight reward.

If you run out of cards in your deck, you shuffle the cards in your Timeout to create a new deck.

Dice

For more information, see the Dice page.

Discard

To discard a card, move a card from your hand to Timeout, without playing any of the effects on it.

Draw

The action of drawing a card is taking a card from your deck and placing it in your hand. This normally is done as part of the resource phase of your turn, but actions or character affects might cause you to draw cards at other times.

Grab

Grab is an action where a Character grabs a played toy card. When grabbed, the effect of the toy listed on the toy card applies to that character. Only one character can grab a toy at a time and grabs can only happen during the build phase of the player's turn, unless the grab text on the card is proceeded by the Quick Ability shooting star symbol.

Hand

Your hand consists of the cards that are drawn from your deck, but not currently in play. Unless modified by a card, at the end of the resource phase, you can have a maximum of 9 cards in your hand. If you have more than 9, you must discard down to 9.

Normally, your the cards in your hand is hidden from your opponent, although there may be actions that cause you to disclose what cards you have in your hand.

Mandatory Effects

For more information, see the Mandatory Effects page.

Maturity

Maturity is the measure of the character's ability to stay an adult or stay out of timeout...or their defense. It is marked on the character card in the lower right corner with a blue bottle. Unless printed on the card as 0, this value can never be affected by actions, locations, or scenes to be made below 1.

Play

You play a card by either placing the card in your play area from your hand or deck or by triggering an action from the card.

Play area

For more information, see the Play area page.

Quick

"Quick" is a designation for certain action cards or abilities on other cards that allow them to be triggered either fight stage by any player or during the build stage by the player who is not currently the player whose turn it is.

Quick Ability

A Quick Ability, shown with a shooting star symbol, can be triggered during any phase of a player's turn that an action or quick action can be played. The effect shown on the card is immediate.

If the word Grab appears after the shooting star symbol, this means that the grab action can be done as a quick ability instead of the normal limitation of grab only being able to be done in the "build" phase of the turn.
